Neil E. Winston, MD

Neil E. Winston, MD, was appointed to the AMPAC Board of Directors in 2006. In 2008, he was selected Chair of the Political Education Committee. He also serves on the Congressional Review Committee. Dr. Winston is a board-certified emergency physician and is currently an Attending Emergency Physician at Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. He was the Medical Director for Preventative Services for the Cook County Department of Public Health from 2004 to 2006.
Dr. Winston received his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago, where he was also an Illinois Department of Public Health Scholar. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.
Dr. Winston has a deep involvement in organized medicine, having served as a Trustee for the American Association of Public Health Physicians since 2006. He has also been a Trustee of the Illinois State Medical Society (ISMS) since 2002, a member of the ISMS House of Delegates since 1994, and a member of the Illinois Medical Political Action Committee (IMPAC) Board of Directors since 2002. He has been active with the AMA as a member of the Illinois delegation to the AMA House since 1996. Dr. Winston has also served on the Commission to End Health Care Disparities since 2005.
Dr. Winston’s other professional memberships include the American College of Emergency Physicians, the National Medical Association and the Chicago Medical Society (CMS), including service as CMS’ first African-American President. He has also served on the Board of Directors and as an adjunct segment producer for the Illinois Channel, a public affairs channel.
Dr. Winston resides in Chicago, Illinois.
