Sheldon G. Gross, MD
Chair, AMPAC Board of Directors
Appointed to the AMPAC Board of Directors in 2002, Sheldon G. Gross, MD, was elected Chair in 2008. He was also elected and served as Secretary in 2006 and 2007. He also serves on the Executive Committee and Congressional Review Committee, and was selected as Chair of the Political Education Committee in 2004 and 2005. Dr. Gross is a board-certified child neurologist in private practice in San Antonio, Texas.
Dr. Gross received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) where he was also a neurology resident, a pediatric resident, and a pediatric intern. Since 1983 to present, Dr. Gross has been the Assistant Clinical Instructor and the Associate Clinical Professor at UTHSCSA.
Dr. Gross has been involved in organized medicine for many years. He served in leadership posts with the American Medical Association (AMA) as an Alternate Delegate from 1998 to 2003 and as a Delegate since 2004. In addition, Dr. Gross has been a Texas Medical Association (TMA) Alternate Delegate from 1994 to 1997 and a Delegate since 1998. He served as State Chair of TMA’s Political Action Committee (TEXPAC) from 1994 to 1995 and is currently a member of both the TEXPAC Board of Directors and the 300 Club. Dr. Gross is also a member of both the Bexar County Medical Society and Foundation Board of Directors.
In addition to AMA, TMA and the Bexar County Medical Society, Dr. Gross is also a member of other professional organizations including the Child Neurology Society, the American Academy of Neurology, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Gross and his wife Georgiana reside in San Antonio, Texas. Their daughter Leah is a resident in anesthesiology.
