John W. Poole, MD

Chair, AMPAC Board of Directors

Appointed to the AMPAC Board of Directors in 2008, John W. Poole, MD, was elected Chair by his peers for 2013-14. For 2010-12, he was elected Secretary He currently serves on the Congressional Review Committee and is also AMPAC’s representative to the AMA Council on Legislation (COL). Dr. Poole is a board-certified general and laparoscopic surgeon in Ridgewood, New Jersey.

Dr. Poole received his medical degree from the University of Virginia. He completed his General Surgery Internship and Residency at Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is currently the Attending Surgeon at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, New Jersey and at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey. Dr. Poole is also the Director of the Department of Surgery and a member of the Medical Executive Committee at Holy Name Hospital.

Dr. Poole is currently the Chair of MEDPAC, the PAC of the Medical Society of New Jersey. He is also an Alternate member of New Jersey’s delegation to the AMA House of Delegates. He was also the Chair of the Bergen County Medical Society from 2007-2008. He has been a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons since 1990.

Dr. Poole and his wife Louise and their 3 children reside in Englewood, New Jersey.
