Appointed to the AMPAC Board of Directors in 2014, James L. Milam, MD, serves on the Congressional Review Committee and the Political Education Committee. Dr. Milam is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist in private practice in Vernon Hills, Illinois. He is a member and Past President of the medical staff at the Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Illinois.
Dr. Milam received his medical degree from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara in Mexico. He completed Residencies in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois and at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois.
Dr. Milam has a long record of service to his fellow Illinois physicians, serving as an Illinois State Medical Society (ISMS) Delegate to the AMA since 2005. He has been an ISMS Trustee since 2001 and was President of ISMS in 2009-10. On the local level, Dr. Milam has been a member of Lake County Medical Society’s Executive Committee since 1993, has served as the county society’s President in 1998, and was a Lake County Delegate to ISMS from 1994-2001.
In addition to his service within organized medicine, Dr. Milam has also worked to protect physicians’ interests as a member of the Board of ISMIE Mutual Insurance Company—Illinois’ largest medical liability insurer—since 2009. He has also been a member of ISMIE Mutual’s Risk Management Committee since 2010.
Dr. Milam resides in Libertyville, Illinois with his wife Cathy.
