Chair, AMPAC Board of Directors
Appointed to the AMPAC Board of Directors in 2010, Vidya S. Kora, MD, was elected Chair of the Board by his peers in 2016. He also serves on the Congressional Review Committee. Dr. Kora is a board-certified internist in Michigan City, Indiana.
Dr. Kora received his medical degree from Gandhi Medical College in Hyderabad, India. He interned at Edgewater Hospital of Chicago. During residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, he became Chief Resident of Internal Medicine. He currently serves on the Northern Indiana Regional Board of Franciscan Alliance, a 13-hospital health system which includes clinics, home health services and doctors serving Indiana and Illinois.
Dr. Kora IS deeply involved in organized medicine. From 2008 to 2010, he served as an Alternate Delegate to the American Medical Association (AMA) House of Delegates from Indiana. Additionally, Dr. Kora served as President of the Indiana State Medical Association (ISMA) from 2006 to 2007. He also served as Speaker of the ISMA House of Delegates from 2002 to 2005 and served as Vice Speaker from 2000 to 2001. From 1999 to 2010, Dr. Kora served on the ISMA Commission on Legislation.
Dr. Kora has been extremely active in the Indiana Medical Political Action Committee (IMPAC) over the years. Since 1999, he has continuously served on the IMPAC Board, and served as Treasurer of IMPAC from 2004 to 2007 and from 2008 to the present. Dr. Kora is also a member of the LaPorte County Medical Society.
Dr. Kora has also been active in his community, having served two terms as the LaPorte Coroner. For over 10 years, he has also served on the Board of Unity Foundation of LaPorte County, which is the philanthropic community foundation for the county.
Finally, since 2008 Dr. Kora has served on the Board of Michigan City Area Schools. In November 2012, he was elected Commissioner of LaPorte County.
Dr. Kora and his wife Sudha reside in Michigan City, Indiana.
